Music

One of the aims of Comhaltas is to preserve and promote the music of Ireland, and to further this aim Cambridge Comhaltas, like all Comhaltas branches, offers lessons to children and adults, beginner, intermediate and advanced players. If you want to learn or improve on any instrument, there's probably someone at the branch who can help you.

We now have some live music for you to download

See also the Video Page showing a few clips of members playing tunes.

As a learning aid, Paul made two CDs, one with common tunes and another with some tunes played at a nice, slow tempo. They're a solo instrument (accordion) and very useful for learning tunes. The tunes from the first CD are now available to listen to online; ask at the Rathmore if you want either CD. The 2nd CD of beginners tunes played a t a slow pace will be available online "soon" (tm).

There's also a ballads page which has some compositions of a local flavour!

Many of our members are actively involved in Ceili bands and other groups. If you are interested in hiring top-notch musicians to play Irish music for an event you need look no further! Just contact us with your requirements.
